e-Boks is protected by a number of different components and procedures that make it secure for you to use e-Boks. e-Boks meets comprehensive security requirements relating to its cooperation with the financial sector.

All access mechanisms to e-Boks use your national identity number as identification, as do the senders that send mail to you in e-Boks. Your national identity number will only be used to log on and to deliver your personal mail to you in cooperation with the registered senders.

e-Boks uses an approved security certificate, which is integrated into most browser types. You can therefore be certain that you have logged on to e-Boks.

Data sent to and from you via e-Boks will be encoded so that others cannot see your data, such as your national identity number. This process is known as encryption. The secure connection is achieved by using the security protocol SSL (Secure Socket Layer) which is built into all modern browsers.

The documents in e-Boks are stored at KMD. Only a few employees at KMD are authorised to maintain, edit and test the IT systems concerned. e-Boks is subject to very restrictive legislation with regard to use of your national identity number.
